What happens if my opponent’s card tries to move damage counters onto one of my other characters?
[Source: WotC]
Motormaster’s ability won’t affect any card that tries to move damage counters from one character to another. That doesn’t count as dealing damage. (The damage was already dealt. It’s just moving.)
Does Motormaster’s ability have any effect on my own cards?
[Source: WotC]
No. Your cards can still do damage to your other characters. (Although they hope you have a good reason for doing that.)
Can I choose an untapped Stunticon to defend, even if I have other tapped Stunticons?
[Source: WotC]
Yes. You can choose any Stunticon to defend, ignoring abilities like brave and stealth, and ignoring which characters are tapped and untapped.
Does Motormaster take the damage with his Alt Mode effect?
[Source: WotC]
Motormaster takes damage that would normally be dealt to him, but does not take damage meant for other characters.
Does Motormaster's ability prevent damage from character abilities? Such as Decepticon Shockwave's discard damage or Superion's first time combining ability if the opponent decided to target someone other than Motormaster?
[Source: WotC]
Yes.
No.
With Motormaster's bot mode ability, when do you choose who going to defend? Is it before your opponent flips or after they flip and before you flip? The key phrase that I'm confused about is "If this would defend". When is the "defend" step?
[Source: WotC]
Motormaster’s bot mode ability is triggered in response to an attack, so the attacker will resolve all of their triggers from attacking, then Motormaster’s ability will allow you to choose a new defender, then the defense triggers will begin.
A situation came up today after
Grimlock in bot mode (Wave 1) attacked Motor Master in truck mode. Does the extra damage carry over if Motor Master is KO’d? We couldn’t quite figure out the timing. If Motor Master is KO’d, does his ability then not work, or is the extra damage assigned prior to the KO?
[Source: WotC]
In this scenario, Motormaster would be KO’d and his ability would not apply.
Grimlock’s ability will trigger after Motormaster is KO’d.
My group has found conflicting answers in regard to
Steamroll’s damage carryover being considered "combat damage" or not. FAQ on the app states that it is Attack Damage. Yet, Roundup 2/28/19 states that Motormaster would protect against Steamroll (making it non-attack damage) and Roundup 2/22/19 specifically states that Steamroll is NOT attack damage.
[Source: WotC]
It’s possible you might be looking at an older iteration of the FAQ. There were conflicting answers earlier in the set’s life, but
Steamroll’s damage carryover is not considered attack damage.
Does Motormaster's bot mode skill redirect the attack to another of your Stunticons, or does the other Stunticon defend on behalf of Motormaster, with him still taking any resultant damage?
[Source: WotC]
The other Stunticon defends and thus takes the attack damage.
Does Motormaster take the damage with his Alt Mode effect?
[Source: WotC]
Motormaster takes damage that would normally be dealt to him, but does not take damage meant for other characters.
Does
Grimlock's bot mode’s extra damage count as attack damage? If it does, and assuming Grimlock has 5 or more extra damage, how much damage does it do in the following situations:
A. Damage is assigned to a bit with
Force Field equipped.
B. Damage is assigned to
Insecticon Skrapnel in bot mode.
C. Any bot that is protected by Motormaster alt mode skill.
[Source: WotC]
The extra damage is not attack damage, so if you are redirecting to a bot-mode Skrapnel or a character with a force field on it, they will take the full additional damage. On the other hand, a damage-capping effect on the character you’re attacking will be relevant. So, if you have a Skrapnel in bot-mode with 5 damage on him and
Grimlock attacks him for say 10 damage, that damage will be reduced to 3 by Skrapnel’s ability, 2 of it will KO him, and the last point will be assigned to another character of the defending player’s choice.
With Motormaster’s ability, for instance, are both character cards and battle cards considered to be "cards"?
[Source: WotC]
Yes.
If I have 3 characters and one of them is Motormaster in alt mode. My opponent plays a
Steamroll and does more than enough damage to KO one of my other two characters. Do I have to put the extra damage on Motormaster or can I put it on my third character? If I put it on my third character does Motormaster's ability cause that damage to be lost or does the Steamroll effect supersede Motormaster's ability?
[Source: WotC]
You can choose the third character and Motormaster will protect it. No extra damage is done.
